Our Play at Festival Unexpected Seattle

Witness a masterclass in improvisation with Our Play—a rare performance by two international improv powerhouses: Patti Stiles and Joe Bill. Despite their contrasting styles and influences, Patti and Joe share a deep trust and fierce support for one another on stage. It’s this chemistry—honed through decades of performing that makes Our Play so compelling to watch.

Patti Stiles is one of the most respected figures in the global improv community. She has served as the Artistic Director for both Rapid Fire Theatre in Canada and Impro Melbourne in Australia. Patti was trained directly by Keith Johnstone, the legendary creator of Theatresports, and has gone on to perform and teach in over 20 countries. She is the author of Improvise Freely, a widely acclaimed book on improvisation philosophy, and is known for her emotionally rich, character-driven style.

Joe Bill is a foundational figure in the Chicago improv scene and a co-founder of the legendary Annoyance Theater. He is also the co-creator of Bassprov, a longform improv format that has toured internationally to great acclaim. He studied with the legendary Del Close. A regular performer at The Second City and iO Theater, Joe is recognized as one of the world’s foremost teachers of scene work and status play. His style is bold, visceral, and rooted in razor-sharp comedic instincts.

Previously performed in Germany, Greece, Italy, Finland, the UAE, France, Canada, Australia, and now Seattle—this is a one-night-only experience you won’t want to miss.
